Landscape with Stream and Weir
ATLAS HOUSE featuring Alex Robbins
EYES OPEN, Munich, Germany.
28 July - 14 September 2026 (TBC)
In Landscape with Stream and Weir (2026), Alex Robbins reimagines Thomas Gainsborough’s celebrated Suffolk landscape through a painstaking process of manual reproduction and colour inversion. The resulting work disrupts the conventions of landscape painting, shifting attention away from representation and towards the physical presence of the painted surface.
Explore the work further through an interview between Atlas House artists Alex Robbins and Carl Morton, alongside Arne De Boever’s essay Becoming Sculpture, which considers the painting’s relationship to sculpture, objecthood and the act of looking.
