Based in a small apartment converted from a shoe factory in 1984, Atlas House in Ipswich, Suffolk, is an artist run project extending art practice through exhibitions, collaboration and residencies, exploring the specificity of place within a local, national and international context. A range of artists, researchers and curators are invited for solo, group and thematic exhibitions, alongside offsite projects and temporary interventions. The programme is irregular and the duration of projects varied, allowing for free and impulsive curatorial direction. The exhibitions are occasionally accompanied by events, talks and screenings.
