“An imagined future is seen through the works in Performance Enhancements, recalling a sci-fi domestic aesthetic that fuses the sleek absurdity of neon surrealism with the intimate scale of everyday life. In this speculative space, biogenetic design and robotic convenience coexist with wellness and performance-enhancing regimes, echoing a broader cultural shift where bodies and homes alike become sites of optimisation.

There’s a strange nostalgia for the future, a longing for utopias that never arrived, filtered through glossy surfaces and therapeutic commodities. This vision is haunted by the post-pandemic fixation on health and wellness, revealing a latent anxiety about control, enhancement, and the porous boundary between organic and synthetic life. These hybrid spaces call into question the very idea of human agency, drawing on the surreal aesthetics of technoculture and the speculative philosophies that trace its evolution.” Joanna Jones
